Markus Krenn: the decade that shaped him (before Cyprus stole his heart)
I cut my teeth as a Senior Key Account Manager, looking after Russia and the former Soviet states.
Cracking times, those were! Nearly ten years of living out of a suitcase — from raising vodka glasses in Moscow 🥃🇷🇺 to those proper boozy beer garden summer evenings in Prague. 🍻🇨🇿 Wouldn’t change a thing!
Markus Krenn: the cheeky passion that changed his life forever
But here’s the kicker — deep down, I had this cheeky passion I’d been bottling up for far too long: banging on about holidays in Cyprus (my favourite place on Earth).
One day, I thought to myself ‘Markus, it’s now or never, mate!’ No sooner said than done!
I grabbed my trusty MacBook and plunged into the brilliant world of travel blogging. Was it a bit bonkers to jack in my successful career as an Eastern Europe whizz? Too right it was! Do I regret it? Not on your nelly!
markuskrenn.com is seen as a huge success, which I’m happy about, because it’s my name on the masthead.

I’m a bit of a passport collector — already nabbed the German 🇩🇪 and Austrian 🇦🇹 ones (a bit cheeky, I know)!
Currently brushing up on my English 🇬🇧, Russian 🇷🇺 and Greek 🇨🇾. What can I say? A proper travel expert for Cyprus has got to keep things multilingual, innit?
Single as a Pringle, me. Sadly, my inspirational muse has done a runner without leaving a forwarding address — a bit cheeky of her, that. 😂🥁😉 Interviews for the muse position are now open. 😉
Fluent Russian speakers jump the queue — as do Brits who fancy helping me nail that proper British accent over a cuppa (or two). ☕️🇬🇧 Apply within. 😉
I do a bit of swimming to keep myself fit and Makronissos Beach in Ayia Napa is where the magic happens. It’s like my personal swimming pool (just a tad bigger).
Mad about chess, me. Nothing like plotting world domination one square at a time (though my pawns seem to have their own agenda half the time)!
Love wandering through the Protaras Riviera with my pockets full of cat treats (I’m basically a walking cat snack bar, innit?). 😻🥓
